What's New for Retirees...
Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO Plan will be replaced by United Healthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO Plan
Beginning January 1, 2025, United Healthcare Group Medicare Advantage PPO Plan will replace the Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO Plan which will end December 31, 2024. As one of the largest Medicare Advantage PPO plans nationwide, United Healthcare MAPPO are contracted with many providers such as Sutter Hospital, UCSF, Palo Alto Medicare Foundation, Dignity Health and many more are contracted with United Healthcare. This new plan provides the same benefits structure as Aetna with the flexibility to go in or out of network if the provider is contracted with Medicare and willing to bill United Healthcare.
All current Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO enrollees will automatically be transferred into United Healthcare Medicare Advantage PPO January 1, 2025, unless you complete and submit the Open Enrollment Change Form electing a new plan or make a change.
If you or your dependent(s) are UNDER age 65 and currently enrolled in the Aetna HMO or Aetna OAMC PPO Plan. This change will not impact this coverage. We will continue to offer Aetna for all NON-Medicare plan members.
If you are currently covered under a Kaiser medical plan, and you do not wish to make any changes, this change will not affect you.
(NO CHANGES ARE BEING MADE TO THE UNDER 65 AETNA PLANS AND NO CHANGES TO ALL KAISER PLANS).
**Please Note**
While we believe this change will immediately improve access to care concerns, we can never guarantee that the carrier and provider will remain in contract for the life of the plan.
You can log in to the UnitedHealth Medicare website to check if your doctor is participating and learn other important information about your new plan.
